Merit Network

Merit is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, owned and governed by Michigan’s public universities, that has been supporting the education community for more than 50 years. Our 4,000 miles of fiber-optic infrastructure serves hundreds of organizations throughout Michigan and our networking and security services are used by Members across the United States.

HYPER-LOCAL EXPERT SUPPORT

Members can speak directly with a Merit staff member 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Merit Support Center, located in Ann Arbor, MI, constantly monitors the backbone of our network for superior connectivity and proactive protection.

PRODUCTS & SERVICES

IP addresses, DNS service, caching service, Internet2, access to Merit’s product portfolio, and more.

COLLABORATION

Member Portal, Merit Advisory Committee, Merit Member Conference, summits, communities of practice and more.

MCAP

The Merit Community Assistance Pact (MCAP) was developed to anchor a community technical support network among Merit Members. For Member organizations who need extra staff or other resources to assist in business continuity/disaster recovery events, MCAP is a vehicle through which participants have access to pre-vetted personnel, agreements and contracts available on short notice to engage specific skills and infrastructure which has been pledged by the Community.
