ANN ARBOR – Merit Network Inc. is offering a special promotion during August and September that provides significant savings on Merit Cloud Storage and Merit VirtualDataCenters. Merit Members can receive 20% off for the first six months of Merit Cloud Storage and 20% off of the base fee for self-provisioned Merit VirtualDataCenters for the first three months. Both offers are valid through September 30, 2012; each service must be provisioned by October 31, 2012.

“Merit is committed to bringing value and cost savings to our Members through virtualization,” said David Dennis, lead product development manager for Merit Network. “With these special promotional rates and usage-based pricing for Merit VirtualDataCenters, we hope to place these services within reach for even more of our Members.”

Merit Cloud Storage is an enterprise-level storage solution for maintaining backups of many different forms of data. The service offers two different options: a single copy remote backup or an archive backup that stores copies of the files in two diverse locations. Both options offer easy access with no input/output (I/O) data transfer fees or connection fees. Merit Cloud Storage includes a firewall that locks down an organization’s data and content, allowing access only to authorized users.

Merit VirtualDataCenters provide customizable virtual servers that enable an organization to expand its data center resources without the costly investment in physical hardware. Merit Members now have the option to easily self-provision their own Merit VirtualDataCenters, and pay for the actual CPU, RAM, and storage usage within their custom environments. Each virtual server can function and deliver applications like a physical machine, without the need to store and maintain hardware.
