Merit Network, Inc. has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the outside plant engineering portion of the REACH-3MC network infrastructure project. Vendors specializing in fiber-optic network construction and engineering are strongly encouraged to submit a proposal by 4:30 p.m. EDT on April 23, 2010.

Merit has been awarded a grant by the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) Broadband Technologies Opportunities Program (BTOP) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The purpose of the grant will be to fund the engineering and construction of approximately 1,017 miles of fiber-optic cable in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, which will include both aerial and underground.

This Request for Proposals (RFP) is for identifying an appropriate Consultant to provide engineering for the routes that have been funded under the NTIA BTOP program for construction in Michigan by Merit. All service routes funded by the grant award will be included in this RFP and referred to as the “Service Route”. To be considered for this RFP the respondent’s response to the RFP must be for the entire Service Route. In no case will a response be considered for only a partial route.
