Please share this announcement with IT asset managers, software purchasers and system administrators at your organization.

Merit Network is pleased to invite you to a one-hour online forum on the challenges educational institutions face in copyright compliance.

The forum will be held on Monday, May 23 at noon to 1:00 p.m. EDT. The special guest is Adam Ayer, president of LicenseLogic, a Washington D.C. provider of educational seminars about software asset management.

About the event

In this forum, Adam will discuss how organizations can successfully develop, communicate and execute an effective software management plan that ensures compliance with copyright regulations. He will focus on educational institutions, which face special issues in copyright compliance:

  • Teaching faculty, staff and students about acceptable software practices
  • Enforcing license requirements within lab environments
  • Accommodating Fair Use principles
  • Optimizing software licenses for uses in education
  • Challenges with software purchased through grants

In conversation Adam will be joined by Toni Baylets of Pennsylvania State University and other software asset managers in education. The format will allow time for answers to your questions about copyright compliance.

How to participate

You can participate in the webinar on Monday, May 23 at noon using your computer or by phone.

Upcoming software asset management workshops

The webinar is a prelude to three seminars coming up on June 28-30. Certified Software Manager, Advanced Software Manager and Certified Software Audit Workshop will help your organization design compliance programs, minimize piracy and negotiate the best terms when purchasing software.
