On August 4, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., Merit Network’s Vice President of Operations and Engineering, Bob Stovall, will join Jeff Reel, executive director of KIBNER (Keystone Initiative for Network Based Instruction and Research), to present the real-world challenges of a large-scale fiber-optic deployment of a NTIA/BTOP grant as part of EDUCAUSE’s “Following the BTOP Money: What to do after the grant arrives.”

Stovall and Reel will discuss dealing with subcontractors, environmental impact studies, historical preservation committees, wetlands remediation, and everything else that goes into building hundreds of miles of fiber-optic network within a very tight timeline.

The presentation is part of EDUCAUSE Live, a series of free, hour-long interactive web seminars on critical technology information topics in higher education.
