ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Merit Network, Inc. announced today the launch of their Merit MailScreen service. Merit MailScreen is a standalone Secure Email Gateway solution, offering virus, spam and malware filtering that integrates with an existing email service.
Powered by Cisco Ironport, Merit MailScreen blocks up to 80% of external threats before they are delivered to a user’s inbox and eliminates 98% of spam, freeing up organizations’ network bandwidth, storage, processor and administrative resources.
Merit has offered MailScreen in the past to its Membership upon request for a number of years. The announcement today makes MailScreen available to all Merit Members.
“Merit MailScreen is ideal for organizations that have selected an enterprise-level email service and need truly reliable spam, phishing and malware protection,” said Elwood Downing, vice president of member engagement and outreach for Merit. “Merit MailScreen exceeds standard security available on email clients and delivers superior protection against incoming threats. Be assured that your mail server is secure with Merit MailScreen today.”
“It was a night and day difference in customer satisfaction,” said Leslie Lance, technology support manager for W.E. Upjohn Institute. “All of our users have the option to review what items have been held back by Merit. Over time the accuracy of filtering out true junk and spam was so high that the majority of our users opted to not even receive the daily notice. Junk mail became a non-issue.”
Merit MailScreen is easy to implement and works with any hosted or managed mail service. Current MeritMail subscribers already enjoy the benefits of MailScreen as it comes standard with the MeritMail Collaboration Suite.
