AnnArbor.com Business Review announced Merit Network as a nominee for its annual “Deals of the Year” award in the nonprofit category on October 1, 2010. Merit was nominated for receiving more than $111 million in federal funds to lead an initiative that will build over 2,200 miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure and greatly improve broadband access in Michigan.
AnnArbor.com Business Review nominated 21 organizations for the “2010 Deals of the Year” award. The nominees in seven economic sectors represent organizations that have exhibited significant progress over the past year, based on economic impact in regards to the company, its employee base and the community. “We are honored to be recognized in our hometown for our efforts to provide a stronger economic base for all of Michigan,” said Merit President and CEO, Don Welch.
The winners—along with a Company of the Year and Executive of the Year—will be announced November 5, 2010 during the “Deals of the Year” gala at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center.
