Internet2, the nation’s high-speed research and education network, established a new record for data sent across its network in 2016. The network transmitted 1,022.3 petabytes of data in 2016, which is the equivalent of 1,022,300 terabytes. Internet2 is connected to the country’s leading research universities and handles loads of big data on a daily basis.
