DETROIT, Mich. – The Michigan Cyber Awareness Luncheon Conference Series continues on June 25, 2014 in the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. The luncheon is hosted by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB). The luncheon series serves as a follow up to the sold out Michigan Cyber Summit hosted in fall 2013 by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder. Michigan is taking a leadership role in cyber defense and development for its citizens, businesses and industry. Governor Snyder began the Michigan Cyber Initiative, an action plan that offers clear approaches for safeguarding our families, protecting Michigan’s infrastructure and shielding its economy.
Presentations at the Michigan Cyber Awareness Luncheon will focus on a comprehensive, forward-looking blueprint to enhance safety and allow for Michigan to reap the economic benefits of the growing cyber security industry. Merit Network’s Dr. William “Joe” Adams, Director of the Michigan Cyber Range, will be part of a panel discussing Michigan’s preparedness for upcoming cyber attacks. The discussion will focus on what is being done around the state to ensure readiness in a cyber world that never sleeps.
Other panel discussion topics include: “Hot Issues in Cyber-What it Means to Businesses and Education,” as well as an interactive session titled “Let’s Talk Cyber: Is Privacy Dead?”

Future Michigan Cyber Awareness Series Luncheons are scheduled for Aug. 12 at the Grand Traverse Resort near Traverse City and Sept. 15 at Western Michigan University’s Fetzer Center in Kalamazoo.
