ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Internet2 has announced its full program schedule for the 2014 Presidential Primary Source project. The project offers a series of five, fifty-minute interactive and free videoconference sessions in which students will engage with presidential historians and park rangers around the theme of “Leadership in a Time of Crisis.” The sessions are aimed at students in grades 6-12 and align with Common Core and National Center for History in the Schools (NCHS) Natural History Standards.

K12 schools, libraries and other Merit Members are welcome to participate. The first 10 classrooms that register and complete videoconferencing testing for a program session will qualify to participate as an interactive site. All other interested classroom sites may view the program via web stream.

Interactive sites require access to a H.323 compliant desktop video conferencing software program or room system that is able to operate at a minimum of 384 kbps. Sites will test with a State program coordinator and receive certification at least one week prior to the program start date.

The program is the result of an exciting partnership between the National Park Service, National Archive funded Presidential Libraries and the Internet2 K20 Initiative. Its goal is to utilize national research and education infrastructure and communities of practice to connect students and informal life-long learners across the country with our nation’s rich cultural and historical resources.
