Governor’s High School Cyber Challenge – Round 1 Top 10 Teams Announced!

GOVERNOR’S HIGH SCHOOL CYBER CHALLENGE

Round 1 of the Governor’s High School Cyber Challenge has closed.

We have our top 10 teams moving on to Round 2!

More than 650 students competed in the challenge this year.

The Governor’s High School Cyber Challenge is designed to test students’ knowledge of cybersecurity, computer science and information technology. Each day of Round 1 consisted of multiple-choice questions focused on a different topic such as networking, programming, hacking and operating systems.

 

The Top Ten Round 2 finalist teams are:

  3. Gamer Time – Gull Lake Community Schools
  4. Angles – Houghton High School
  5. Inst 13 – Muskegon Area Career Tech Center
  6. Crickets – Canton High School
  7. Artificial Cats – Canton High School
  8. Inst 5 – Muskegon Area Career Tech Center
  9. AllaBhatWhit_11 – Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center
  10. ChenShekTai_12 – Kalamazoo Area Mathematics and Science Center

 

The competition scores were based on the number of correct answers given as well as the time taken to complete each day’s questions. This year, more than 240 teams from 26 schools competed in Round 1. The schools were geographically located across all of the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan.

The Governor’s High School Cyber Challenge is run and facilitated by Merit Network and the Michigan Cyber Range, in partnership with the State of Michigan. Event sponsors include CISCO, Juniper Networks and ADVA.

Round 2 will take place online on October 8th, 2021. The winners of Round 2 will be announced on October 21, 2021 at the Michigan Cyber Summit. Learn more about the summit here.
