About the Academy Leadership Program
Academy Leadership was founded in August 2000 by graduates of West Point and the Naval Academy who are successful leaders in the business world as well as the military. The company has been providing training programs focused at the management level since its inception.
Since World War II, the nation’s Service Academies produced thousands of successful corporate CEOs, presidents, vice-presidents, and entrepreneurs. The company’s principals developed a leadership training system that combined the valuable lessons learned, the winning tactics, and time-tested business philosophies from the Academy, military, and corporate world experiences to create the Lead2Succeed™ training process.
The training approach follows the principles advanced at Annapolis and West Point: self-discipline, commitment to goals larger than one’s own personal goals, persistence, a will to win, integrity, how to treat others with respect and dignity, and a passion to lead. The result is that people can identify with the mission and see a clear relationship between their daily duties and accomplishment of the overall goals.
Academy Leadership has worked in the financial services, bank credit card and insurance, communications, contracting, distribution, package delivery service and manufacturing industries, as well as the not-for-profit sector and the government. Merit Network is pleased to offer a program of leadership training in partnership with Academy Leadership.
Graydon Krapohl
Director of Business Operations, Merit Network
Graydon Krapohl, Merit’s Director of Business Operations and former Colonel, United States Marine Corps Reserve, has held a variety of senior leadership, staff, teaching, training, and command positions throughout his professional career.
Graydon came to Merit with a broad range of cross functional and industry experience gained from working in the Federal, State, and private sectors. He has expertise in systems planning, strategic and operational planning, policy formulation, organizational development, and project management, and holds a master’s of strategic studies, with an emphasis on national security strategy from the U.S. Army War College; an MBA from George Mason University; and a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from the University of Michigan.
