Participants worked in teams, using penetration testing and forensic skills to gather clues and collect evidence within the Alphaville training environment. The team with the most points won the competition.

The final winners were John Lohrentz, Wendy Edwards, and Michael Baccia, who were awarded scholarships from (ISC)2 for their achievements.

Competition participants were invited to USCC after being vetted through an online competition, called Cyber Quests. Hundreds of people from across the country participated in Cyber Quests, and the top performers were invited to attend one of the three USCC camps this summer.

USCC is a program of the Center for Internet Security, whose mission is to significantly reduce the shortage in the cyber workforce by serving as the premier program to identify, attract, recruit and place the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
