Cybersecurity & Technology K-12 Summer Camps in Michigan

Summer Camps are a great way for middle and high school students to learn about cybersecurity, technology and computer science over their summer break, while experiencing a little of what it’s like being on a college campus. Below are many of the worthwhile academic camps being offered by Merit’s Governing Member Universities this summer.

In addition to camps, high school students can test their cybersecurity knowledge this summer with free challenges to prepare for the Governor’s High School Cyber Challenge, a cybersecurity competition open to all Michigan high school students this fall.


Cybersecurity Camps

Ferris State University
Cyber Security Summer Academic Camp: June 18-21, 2017
FSU offers high school students a cybersecurity summer camp experience in Big Rapids. Respond to and investigate a crime scene through the eyes of a digital forensic analyst. The camp’s team activities will include password cracking and cryptology.

Oakland University
GenCyber 2017: July 10-14, 2017
The free GenCyber camp at Oakland University is a comprehensive and activity-based summer camp program that provides cybersecurity training to upper elementary, middle school and high school students in Macomb County, Oakland County and Wayne County. The program does not require any prior cybersecurity and computer knowledge or experience, or prior GenCyber program participation.

Northern Michigan University
Cyber Camp: July 17-21, 2017
NMU offers high school students a challenging summer experience at their Cyber Camp in Marquette. Students will explore different coding platforms, app development, networking basics and cybersecurity topics.

CMU offers these technology-related camps for late elementary and middle school students.
