ERA OF DISRUPTION

MAY 15 – 17 2018
THE HENRY HOTEL, DEARBORN, MI

The technological, infrastructure, policy and security landscapes are changing more quickly than businesses and nonprofits can keep pace. In what ways can we anticipate our future networking, enterprise security, staffing and hardware/software needs to reduce business risk and optimize resources during this era of great, and sometimes uncertain, opportunities?

WORKSHOPS

Economic Security Essentials

In this live hands-on Security on a Shoestring companion workshop, attendees will be given a practical framework for economical safeguards for IT resources to protect against outside threats. Takeaways include methodology to detect vulnerabilities using DNS to block malvertising and deploying open source tools, while remaining budget-conscious. Participation in Security on a Shoestring is not a prerequisite for this event.

Musketeer

This workshop is a guided version of our Capture The Flag exercise, which is a challenge designed to cover the spectrum of cybersecurity. Participants will use open source tools to fire off live attacks on networked systems in real time. They should have basic computer skills, familiarity with the command line, understanding of IP addressing, DNS and basic security concepts. A proctor will be onsite to solve technical problems and to assist participants who get stuck. They will be pointed in the right direction, but not given the answer outright.
