Learn & Practice the Fundamentals of Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking
Merit Professional Development and the Michigan Cyber Range are pleased to present Certified Professional Ethical Hacker – C)PEH. This course is the introductory training in the line of penetration testing courses and certifications. The course helps students gain a valuable skill set in penetration testing by understand the importance of vulnerability assessments and ethical hacking.
The CPEH certification training enables students to understand the importance of vulnerability assessments by providing industry knowledge and skills in Vulnerability Assessments. In doing so, the CPEH student is able to understand how malware and destructive viruses function. In addition, the CPEH course helps students learn how to implement counter response and preventative measures when it comes to a network hack.
The CPEH course provides in-depth labs that focus on both open source and commercial based tools with industry best practices. These hands on labs emulate real world hacking scenarios and equip the candidate to assess your company’s security posture, help implement controls to better secure your company’s network infrastructure and how to combat against hackers and/or viruses, etc.
Upon completion of the Certified Professional Ethical Hacker course, candidates will be able to competently take the CPEH exam.
Who Should Attend? Information System Owners, Security Officers, Ethical Hackers, Information Owners, Penetration Testers, System Owner and Managers, Cyber Security Engineers.
Recommended Prerequisites: 12 months of IT security experience or 12 months of Networking Experience.

IMPORTANT COMPUTER INFORMATION

Some of the course exercises are based on Windows, while others focus on Linux. VMware Player or VMware Workstation is required for the class.

Mandatory Laptop Hardware Requirements

  • x86- or x64-compatible 1.5 GHz CPU Minimum or higher
  • DVD Drive (not a CD drive)
  • 2 GigaByte RAM minimum with 4 GB or higher recommended
  • Ethernet adapter (A wired connection is required in class. If your laptop supports only wireless, please make sure to bring an Ethernet adapter with you.)
  • 5 GigaByte available hard drive space
  • Windows XP SP3, Vista, or Win7 – IE 7 or above, Firefox 18 installed

The training curriculum for this course is developed and provided by Mile2, a developer and provider of vendor neutral professional certifications for the cyber security industry.


The Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) has recognized that Mile2’s certification courseware meets all the elements of the CNSS National Training Standards.

Certification Exam

The Certified Professional Ethical Hacker exam is taken online through Mile2’s Assessment and Certification System (“MACS”), which is accessible on your mile2.com account. The exam will take 2 hours and consist of 100 multiple-choice questions. The cost is $400 USD and must be purchased from Mile2.com.
