Project Compass is a statewide digital skills initiative run by Merit Network, an independent non-profit research and education network. The survey is brief (lasting just five minutes or less) but incredibly important for Albion. Information gathered from this survey will help Michigan communities identify barriers that prevent their residents from participating in the digital world. Any information submitted will not be sold, but may be used by Merit and local partners for digital development planning as outlined in the Data Privacy FAQ below. We understand that you may not have all the necessary information for every question. Please answer to the best of your ability. You may skip any question you choose not to answer.
Merit Network is a non-profit organization supporting internet access and training across the state of Michigan. We have received funding from the USDA to support local strategic planning in Albion. The USDA has identified Albion Township as an area of high need for support with internet access and digital skills training. The goal of this survey is to better understand the state of internet infrastructure and digital literacy in your community.
The Albion board and Guidance Group will receive an aggregate report and output from the analysis once completed. Personally identifiable information will not be shared. Summary reports and associated anonymized geographic maps may be used in reports, presentations, and other forms of communication to showcase the broadband and digital equity trends in your community.
Merit Network will be responsible for data management related to this project. Data will be maintained and archived in a secure and password-protected repository. All data will be made available in a format that protects anonymity and confidentiality. Data may be retained in cold storage indefinitely by Merit Network, Inc. in order to assist with longitudinal studies with the express purpose of assisting municipalities, governments, and other organizations with increasing broadband deployment and usage within the United States.
