A cost-effective alternative to purchasing a large storage array, the Merit Storage Cloud provides a professionally-maintained storage solution, with large storage arrays located in Tier 3 data centers and 24x7 expert operator support.
Merit's data centers are climate-controlled, secure facilities with high-speed connections to Merit's backbone network. Unlike commercial cloud services that may send your data to other states or countries, your data in the Merit Storage Cloud is located in Michigan and is easily accessible from high-speed data transfers.
Your Data is Yours!While some commercial providers mine the data in their care, Merit respects the
confidentiality and privacy of our Members. The data that you store in the Merit
Storage Cloud is yours only.
Merit's Storage Cloud Service tames the Cloud approach by placing the storage
cloud in a secure data center with strict protection and use rules. This is a storage
cloud with clearly defined boundaries or, as we call it, a Cloud-in-a-Box! One of the
features of this approach is your data never leaves its specified location unless you
want it to.
The ArchitectureThe architecture of the Merit Storage Cloud Service is designed to achieve high availability-Tier 21 reliability and redundancy with outstanding economics. Paired 60 Terabyte arrays are connected by multiple, redundant fiber switches that are in turn controlled by banks of two servers per
paired 60 TB array.
Popular access protocols are supported such as CIFS, WebDAV, iSCSI and others. Optional data back-ups are stored on separate disk arrays to perform faster than tape with higher reliability and protection.
Merit has designed the storage cloud to have 10% available capacity at most times to allow rapid
provisioning of our Members' storage needs. When capacity exceeds requirements, the cloud can be
expanded inmost cases within 7 business days. The cloud itself is designed for rapid expandability no
matter how large the requirement.
