The definition of "networking" has changed considerably in the 40 years since Merit's founding. Merit
was founded to create "links" between mainframe computers--essentially transporting bits. From that simple beginning,
networking has expanded to include not just the "network stack", but also applications, advanced services and even
"human networking".
Merit remains a networking leader by offering many additional services beyond network connectivity. From advanced
protocols like IPv6 and multicast, to managed services like email and interactive videoconferencing, Merit continues
to support our community's needs for next generation networking.
