A typical meeting includes senior engineering staff from tier 1 and tier 2 ISP(s). Researchers from the academic and private sectors present summaries of their work for operator feedback, and vendors present business object frameworks (BOFs). NANOG meetings are in-depth technological discussions, not opportunities for marketing.

All of the above makes NANOG an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in related fields. College or university students who are enrolled in courses leading to a baccalaureate or graduate degree when a NANOG meeting occurs can attend the meeting for $100.
