Announcing full agenda for MJTS meeting, September 29

ANN ARBOR - Merit Network is pleased to announce the full agenda for the fall MJTS
meeting, to be held on Tuesday, September 29 at the MSU Union in East
Lansing. All Merit Member organizations are welcome and encouraged to
attend MJTS meetings for a free day of information and interaction. The

This meeting will be webcast. On the day of the event there will be a
link to the broadcast on the above page.
The detailed agenda, with times and abstracts, is available online.
Following are the main presentations and speakers:
- Dave Maki from Northern Michigan University will discuss NMU's WiMAX
rollout, one of the first university WiMAX implementations in the nation.
- Don Welch from Merit will discuss Merit's application for funding
under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. If approved, Merit's
proposal would add over 900 miles of fiber to help improve broadband
services in 32 Michigan counties.
- Michael Rohwer from Ottawa Area Intermediate School District will
describe a recent project to provide IPTV service for a local school
district.
- Pete Hoffswell from Davenport University will speak about analyzing
cloud-based application performance.
- Merit staff will provide an updates on upcoming network changes and
research on a novel way to extend IPv4 address space.
- Jan Toth-Chernin from Greenhills School will discuss development of
the school's home-grown combination of a content management system and
social network.
MJTS meetings are open only to Merit Member organizations. We encourage
you to invite others from your organization to attend the meeting, in
this case particularly those who have interests in wireless
technologies, connectivity in underserved areas, IPTV, cloud computing,
and application development. Registration is free, and we ask that you
