2008 Merit Advisory Council Election Begins

The 2008 Merit Advisory Council (MAC) Election begins today, with non-governing Members casting their votes for candidates to fill 12 open seats on the Council. The election period will last several weeks before closing at midnight on May 5, 2008.
Each non-governing Member institution that belongs to the Merit Network community has a designated representative who is eligible to cast one vote, picking from a list of qualified candidates.
The Merit Advisory Council provides non-governing members with a forum to communicate with each other and with Merit Network. The council features individuals who represent K-12 organizations, libraries, community colleges, private colleges, health care, government, nonprofits, research organizations, and for-profit businesses.
Candidates participating in the 2008 MAC election include:
Community Colleges
- James Jones, Jackson Community College
- Amin Ladha, Washtenaw Community College
- Jim Lundberg, Bay de Noc Community College
K-12 Schools
- Dennis Buckmaster, St. Clair County RESA
- Dennis Drooger, Ottawa Area ISD
Libraries
- Roger Mendel, Mideastern Michigan Library Cooperative
- Angie Michelini, The Library Network
Private Colleges
- David Bowers, Cleary University
- David Zenz, Hillsdale College
- William Wachob, Lawrence Technological University
Government, Not-for-Profit Agencies, Research, and For-Profit Businesses
- Don Barnowski, United Way for Southeastern Michigan
Health Care
- Steve Mousseau, Alpena Regional Medical Center
- Judith Garland, Detroit Medical Center
