Read Around the PlanetMany K-12 Organizations in Michigan Will Participate in Unique Teaching EventBy Brian Warkoczeski, December 2007
Students around the world will take part in
"Read Around the Planet" from February 25 through March 4, 2008.
The unique reading program will utilize interactive videoconferencing to connect classrooms
and enable students in Michigan to interact with students in
other parts of the world.
The event is open to all middle and elementary school students, and
each class that participates will be matched with a class in a different
location. Classes will exchange reading activities, such as as skits, plays, and songs.
The program is sponsored by
TWICE and Polycom, in cooperation with the
National Education Association.
Merit Members that are currently expected to participate in this exciting program include
Genesee-ISD, Gratiot-Isabella RESD, and Clare-Gladwin RESD.
Merit Network is participating in the event by providing end-point testing and
verification for Merit Member K-12 organizations.
See the TWICE Read Around the Planet page
for how to register and other details.
