RE: [OpenCALEA] CALEA procedure contributions

I will get this out of the way first thing. I am not a lawyer. It is not my
intent to provide any legal opinion or legal advice in this email in anyway.
Please consult your legal counsel.

ESnet (www.es.net) like MERIT are a private network with commodity internet
peering (gateway) CALEA compliance. Our requirements might be different than
other more public ISP's.

I have no checklists ready for primetime other than what little process is
in the SSI (and I cant share that in a public forum) we filed. The SSI does
walk through how you are going to handle the process of receiving the order,
getting it properly looked at by lawyers. How the technical internal
processes gets handled is where I am still on, how to build the filters,
setup the tunnel, get the OpenCALEA software going,...

We are planning to use a Juniper with mirroring and a IP filter, matching
the subpoena request then GRE tunnel off to a "reflector" (the end point of
the tunnel) running OpenCALEA and then send the packets to the LEA
"collector" or sink.
I have a few "flow charts" of our process but no hard documentation as of
yet.

We are relying on the fine, hard work of folks here for the code to do the
proper things

We are currently working on a OpenCALEA port to FreeBSD, running a test and
then the internal docs.

Subject: [OpenCALEA] CALEA procedure contributions

Hello,

Is anyone willing to put together some guidelines and sample forms for
company procedures for calea? Eg. a checklist of what you need to
do/have in place (procedurally and technically) prior to getting a
subpoena, and then a simple walk-through of how to handle a subpoena?

Dan Peterson mentioned he was working on this in March and might be
able to share some. Any progress there?

Thanks,
Jesse
