[OpenCALEA] software license?

Hello,

  I might take a shot at making a debian package out of this, largely
for the experience of doing so.  Any chance of getting accepted into
almost any distribution is going to require very clear licensing (GPL or
whatever).  Can someone affiliated with Merit take that up with whomever
need be to try to get specific licensing terms?
