Re: Scanning for Viruses

Lyle,
We are currently using Groupwise 5.5 EP which doesn't leave a whole lot of =
virus scanning options. What we decided to do was an antivirus for =
gateways (Norton) which basically is a standalone 2000 or Solaris system =
that scans all incoming mail for virii, repairs or deletes and then sends =
it on to our groupwise system. It worked so well we now have another for =
our NIMS system.
The design is very failover friendly in that it's all done with MX =
records, thus if the virus scan box goes offline for any reason its really =
not that big of a deal (other than mail would not be scanned)
I have the systems set to live update every day which is a wonderful =
feature. Other products I tested were MIMEsweeper which is also very nice =
but not even close when the price tag came down.
Hope this helps.

We are considering installing E-Mail anti-virus software on our E-Mail
server. We would like to know if any one is using anti-virus software on
your E-Mail servers to scan your users E-Mail for infected messages? This
particular software would then return the infected email back to the =
sender
and to the postmaster, along with notification that the mail contained a
virus. If you do not have an E-Mail anti-virus on your server, what would
be the reason?
