Lyle,
It would depend on what email server you are using. We use Microsoft
Exchange 2000 in a Windows 2000 environment and we use Symantec
Anti-virus cooperate edition for virus protection. It protects our
clients, servers and exchange server. It works very well once setup and
both Symantec and Microsoft have excellent pricing for educational
institutions.

Subject: Scanning for Viruses
We are considering installing E-Mail anti-virus software on our E-Mail
server. We would like to know if any one is using anti-virus software
on
your E-Mail servers to scan your users E-Mail for infected messages?
This
particular software would then return the infected email back to the
sender
and to the postmaster, along with notification that the mail contained a
virus. If you do not have an E-Mail anti-virus on your server, what
would
be the reason?
