What if everyone of us started to suggest that to everyone that said
something that we personally felt wasn't entirely on-topic (whatever
that is). I got scolded for daring to ask for advice regarding a
switch hardware error (but got assistance from list moderators that
told me it was an OK thing to ask. Thank you!).

For each topic we have there ought to be someone who feels it isn't
something we should have on NANOG. But worth considering is that
for each of them there are usually a number that is interested.

My humble suggestion is that we start to forbid on-list meta-debate
on what is on-topic or not, and keep it here, and that THAT is more
enforce than today. Just look at the silly amount of mails sent out
bickering about what is on-topic or not, compared to the actual
original mails?
