Release 3.6 of Merit AAA RADIUS Server
- From: Scott Gerstenberger
- Date: Fri Jul 17 20:32:41 1998
I am pleased to announce that release 3.6 of the Merit AAA
(RADIUS) server is available for all Merit members and
affiliates that use MichNet shared dial-in services.
If your organization does not use MichNet dial-in, you don't
need to read the remainder of this email. Also, even if
your organization does use MichNet dial-in, you need only
be concerned with this announcement if you run a Local
Authorization Server (LAS).
If you have questions about this announcement, please
contact your Network Consultant at Merit for help.
Detailed technical information pertaining to this release has
already been emailed to current LAS administrators.
Unlike releases over the last 18 months, this is a mandatory
release for all sites that participate in the MichNet shared
dial-in. We would like all sites to have installed release 3.6
by November 1, 1998. Many, many changes have been made to the
AAA server since we last required all sites to upgrade and it
is no longer feasible to support old releases.
Your organization must sign a license to use this release of
the Merit AAA Server even though you may have signed a previous
license. There is no fee for the use of this licensed software
as long as its sole use is in conjuntion with the MichNet Shared
Dial-in Service. (Refer to the license for details.)
There are two licenses: one for Merit Members (Central Michigan
University, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Valley State
University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan State
University, Michigan Technology University, Northern Michigan
University, Oakland University, Saginaw Valley State University,
University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Western
Michigan University) and one for MichNet affiliates. These
licenses are available on-line as printable Adobe PDF files at:
http://www.merit.edu/aaa/michnet.license.html
After the license is executed, it should be returned by postal
mail or fax to your Internet Consultant at Merit. A user name
and password then will be assigned to you which will give you
access to the release 3.6 distribution.
Your LAS administrator has been sent information about the
location of the distribution files and how to get technical
assistance.
