Adrian College is seeking applicants for the following two positions.
Adrian College
Director of Campus Computing
Organizes centralized and distributed data processing services on campus.
Coordinates the selection, purchase, and maintenance of Alpha, VAX and IBM
PC-compatible computer hardware and software; plans, supervises and
participates in the development and maintenance of administrative software
systems. Coordinates with the Programmer analyst regarding administrative
database. Trains administrators, faculty, staff and students in use of computer
systems. Supervises word processing and some communications services. Requires
bachelors degree in computer science or masters degree in an information
management related field, or a bachelors degree with three to five years of
experience in academic computer center operation. Qualifications include
knowledge of VMS, NT, and Microsoft networking; organizational and management
skills; extensive systems experience; programming experience in at least one
high-level language; database skills; written and oral communication skills;
interpersonal skills. Must have strong technical and mechanical aptitude. Send

Adrian College, founded in 1859, is a private liberal arts college with about
1000 full-time students and 100 part-time students. The College has 64
full-time and 5 half-time faculty members in 21 academic departments.
Office of Campus Computing
The Computer Center has a director, an assistant director, a database
programmer analyst, three full-time word processing technicians, a Kettering
University intern, and a number of student employees. It is located in Mahan
Hall. The computing system includes four servers: one DEC Alpha and three DEC
microVAXes. They are connected with a fiber optic backbone (installed in August
1997) that connects all rooms, academic and residential, on campus. There are
approximately 200 microcomputers networked, mostly Pentium level and mostly
located in faculty or staff offices. There are four computer labs on campus.
The library is fully automated and the catalog is available on line.
Adrian College
Assistant Director of Campus Computing
Assists the Director of Campus Computing in the planning, implementation,
operation, diagnosis, and support of computer hardware, software, networks, and
training. Repairs/coordinates repair of computer hardware. Assists Director
with campus networks (campus backbone, LANs, external networking),
minicomputers, microcomputers, and peripherals as needed. Set up/install
hardware and software. Teaches employees how to use college supported software
packages. Bachelors degree in computer science or related area required.
Knowledge of NT, Microsoft networking and IBM PC hardware essential. Must have
