new T1 between Houghton and Ann Arbor

A new T1 circuit went into service between the MichNet backbone node at
Michigan Tech. in Houghton and Ann Arbor. This is the second T1 between
Houghton and Ann Arbor. There is also a third T1 that runs from Houghton to
Marquette.
Now that this work is done, we are pretty much finished with the backbone
upgrades that we have planned for this year, other than the installation of
a second T3 between MichNet and the rest of the Internet. We don't have a
confirmed date for that installation from MCI, but we are hoping for early
January. We will also be making a few changes having to do with our Frame
Relay attachments that will provide better backup and more bandwidth to
Jackson as well as the LDIP customers in the Lansing, Grand Rapids and UP
LATAs.
