new T1 between Grand Rapids and East Lansing installed

A new T1 circuit (the 3rd one) was installed between the MichNet backbone
routers in Grand Rapids and East Lansing yesterday afternoon. This should
improve service to folks with MichNet attachments in Grand Rapids and
Muskegon.
A new T1 circuit (the 2nd one) between Houghton and Ann Arbor has been
turned over to Merit by the carrier (Sprint), but it is not yet in service.
It will be placed in service shortly if all goes well during testing.
A new T1 circuit (the 2nd one) was turned over to Merit by the carriers
(LCI and GTE), but during testing problems with this circuit were
discovered and the carriers are working to resolve the problems now. Final
installation of this circuit may be delayed for some time as a result.
I am glad to report that we've made some progress here. I am sorry that
some of this work wasn't done sooner. We'll keep you posted as the new
circuits are placed into service.
