Time is running out to register for the following classes. If you know
anyone who may be interested in these classes, please pass on this
information. Thank you.
REGISTER NOW FOR INTERNET LEARNING IN NOVI AND LANSING
Trainers from Merit Network, Inc. will bring specialized knowledge of the
Internet to Novi and Lansing in three upcoming training seminars.
Registration is closing soon for these seminars on using the Internet in
education and presenting content on the World Wide Web. Contact us today to
register.
All courses have been scheduled for facilities that include computer labs,
so that you will have at least one full day of hands-on work as you master
these new Internet skills. All courses run from 9:00 to 4:00 and cost $200
for a two-day training session.
HOME ON THE WEB: BUILDING AND MANAGING A WEB SITE
This two-day seminar is designed for persons and groups thinking about
putting themselves on the World Wide Web. In the first day, Web authorities
Richard Wiggins of Michigan State University and Susan Davidsen of the
University of Michigan answer the most important questions for any
organization considering starting up a presence on the Internet. Included
are the central issues in building and managing a Web site: planning
staffing, budgeting, and maintenance; owning your own technology versus
renting space with an access provider; content and design issues; and site
promotion. The second day of the seminar, led by Merit trainers, is a
hands-on workshop on Web site creation, including the basics of HTML,
dynamic linking, creating tables, and creating and manipulating graphics.
The first day of this course may be selected by itself, for $100.
July 16-17 Novi High School
July 18-19 Lansing Community College
LEARNING TO USE THE INTERNET
This two-day seminar provides a complete overview of Internet technologies,
tools, and strategies to help you master the Internet and make use of its
remarkable resources. Particular attention is paid to instructional aspects
of the Internet for use in the classroom and at home--this focus is ideal
for educators, information specialists, and parents. Included are sections
on using e-mail, FTP, Gopher, telnet, and the World Wide Web; installing
Internet protocol software and Internet tools; and finding and using
educational resources.
