Hi, kids.

If you have any friends who have yet to subscribe to Roadmap, it would
mean a lot to me if you forwarded the following message to them ... soon.
The Roadmap list will stop accepting new subscriptions for the fourth
workshop on Friday morning, February 3 (EEEEK!).

Have a GREAT week, and I will talk to you on Friday.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT IS ROADMAP?

Roadmap is an Internet training workshop designed to teach
new "Net travelers" how to travel around the rapidly expanding
(and often times confusing) "Information Superhighway" without
     getting lost.

Using the latest information available coupled with guest lectures
from some of today's most respected Internet leaders, Roadmap
is one of the most talked-about Internet training workshops in
     history.

HOW MUCH DOES THE WORKSHOP COST?

     Nothing ... it's absolutely FREE!!!!!

WHAT SORT OF INTERNET ACCESS DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN ROADMAP?

All you need is e-mail (although it would be nice if you also
had telnet access). Since a substantial number of Roadmap
participants only have e-mail access, the Roadmap workshop
sessions will teach you how to use the tools of the Internet
directly and also how to use these same tools using nothing
     but e-mail.

HOW DOES THE WORKSHOP ACTUALLY WORK?

The workshop lessons are actually e-mail letters that I will
e-mail you once a day for a couple of weeks. Each lesson will
teach you about a particular Internet tool, and you can read the
     lessons at your own pace.

WILL THERE BE ANY HOMEWORK?

Yes and no. Some of the lessons ask you to go out an do something
on the Internet, but you will never have to do anything that you
will have to "turn in" to someone.

So, rest easy ... you won't be graded.

HOW LONG WILL ROADMAP LAST?

The Roadmap for the Information Superhighway workshop will last
about six weeks. However, the workshop is entirely self-paced
so you can go through the workshop in as little or as much time
     as you want!

WHEN DOES THE WORKSHOP BEGIN?

     Thursday, February 9th, 1995!

Starting on Thursday, February 9th, I will e-mail you one lesson
each week day for five weeks (ending on St. Patrick's Day (March
     17)).

EEEK! I'M GOING ON A VACATION DURING THAT TIME! WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Enjoy your vacation. The lessons will be sitting in your mailbox
when you return, and you can then go through the workshop at your
     own pace.

HOW DO I SUBSCRIBE?

Easy! Just send an e-mail letter to

               LISTSERV@UA1VM.UA.EDU

     (that's "you-aye-won-vee-em") which says

               SUBSCRIBE ROADMAP YOURFIRSTNAME YOURLASTNAME

in the body of your e-mail letter, replacing YOURFIRSTNAME
and YOURLASTNAME with your first and last names (NOTE: simply
replying to this letter will NOT work ... you must send a
NEW letter to LISTSERV@UA1VM.UA.EDU to subscribe to the
     Roadmap workshop).

The Roadmap workshop is the individual effort of Patrick Crispen, who is
solely responsible for its content (including all of the typos).
Additional support is provided by the University of Alabama's College
of Arts and Sciences, and by the squirrels who keep eating the power
lines leading to the University of Alabama's mainframe.
