Re: Specifications for the validation server

  • From: John R. Vollbrecht

David - we are looking at using the Radius protocol instead of the
authorization server as a way of distributing authentication. The
mechanism is cleaner and better thought out. We are planning to
interface the current authorization servers with the system of Radius
servers. We are working on an architecture description for how this
will all fit together.

However, if you would like to start to implement a Radius server, we can
give you the code, and a description of how it works now. Give me a
call and we can talk about it.

We will talk more about this at the mjts meeting, but I am thinking of
having a sub meeting of the mjts to talk about it in a couple weeks of
the mjts. If others are interested please let me know and I will set
something up.

The documentation for Radius and extensions we have done is (or will be
soon) on merit.edu Pub/michnet/radius-desc.txt To get the code give Al
Rubens a call at 313-747-0417 (acr@merit.edu)

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, but we have been trying to
sort out the best way to do this, and have only recently decided to go
with the Radius direction.

 - John
