Problems with email updates...

I am trying to get 2.1.3 to work under solaris 8 with qmail running
instead of sendmail.
When I email to the server I get the following message..
#ERROR: Could not determine submitter
Is there something I may have missed in my configuration?
I have the auto-dbm alias as follows...
|/usr/local/sbin/irr_rpsl_submit -v -f /etc/irrd.conf -l /var/tmp
