Re: Problems compiling irrd2.0a-Aug1-2000 on FreeBSD V4.1

  • From: Gerald Andrew Winters

Paul,

First let me say I'm glad you were able to fix the problem.
We tried a build on a freebsd box and encountered the same problem.
I stopped short of building the libc.a lib from
the linux devtools package. Since we've not had any real
testing experience on freebsd you are really heading in uncharted
territory. The patch that you have applied is beyond the means of
many users since it involves building non-standard system software
but it appears safe and I would not expect any suprises.

We actually operate under limited resrouces and currently
do not expend cycles to port and test on architectures other
than the solaris boxes we use. There are plans to change
this in the very near future.

What we can do in the meantime is to include your FIX in the
install notes so that others can apply the patch if they
wish to.

Regarding the second patch of chaning the order of the include's
is good and I have changed our sources to reflect it.

Thanks for the valuable input and let us know what other
problems you may encounter.
