A solid introduction to cloud computing

Merit Network is pleased to host Cloud Computing Essentials, an online class taught over five short days on January 30-February 3, 2012. The class will meet each day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST.

In this course you will learn about the evolution of the cloud and its ability to increase processing power and bandwidth capabilities. You will learn who's who in cloud computing, the products and services offered, and common platforms and applications. You will examine the pros and cons of implementing a cloud computing platform, including the financial benefits and the security risks, and you'll learn about cloud computing standards and best practices.

Registration for this course is available at an extended discount through December 22 for attendees from Merit Members and educational institutions. Scholarships are also available to Merit Members. Read below for more information about both opportunities.

Audience and key topics

This course will be very helpful for those interested in learning the essentials of cloud computing, including IT managers seeking basic cloud computing knowledge to determine whether or not to use cloud services; technical professionals who need to understand the basics of cloud computing; and others who want to increase their ability to communicate with experienced technical professionals. Registration Details
Cloud Computing Essentials will be held on Monday through Friday, January 30-February 3, 2012. The course will be instructed online via a desktop interface, so you may attend from any location. Class each day is from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. EST, with a break for lunch.

Through December 22, 2011, the registration fee for attendees from Merit Members and educational organizations is just $1795—33% off the standard price of $2695 for this course. After December 22, the price for Merit Members and educational organizations increases to $1995. Attendees from other organizations may attend for $2295. Registration includes all training materials, which will be shipped to you.

Scholarships available
Scholarships are available for this class through the Professional Learning scholarship program. Anyone from a Merit Member organization may apply for a scholarship if funding to attend is not otherwise available through the organization. Scholarship applications must be received by Friday, January 6, 2012. We are grateful to the Merit Community Supporters for their contribution to the scholarship program.
