discussions of interest to network architects, engineers,
managers and administrators.

gathering is an opportunity for networking professionals
to learn from each other, find out about new networking
technologies and get connected with networking colleagues
at other organizations.
When you register at the Merit Member price, you are
invited to have a colleague (from any organization) sign
up using the complimentary option that is available during
registration. Please take this opportunity to bring
multiple networkers from your institution or to invite a
colleague from a collaborating organization.

issues in wireless LAN, featuring Dan Eklund from
Wayne State University, James Helzerman from the University
of Michigan and Mark Strandskov from Central Michigan

Hoffswell of Davenport University on using Cacti
to help manage your network
- Dale
Finkelson of Internet2 on real-life IPv6
implementation
- David
Altstaetter of ADVA Optical Networks on next-generation
networks
- Engineers
from Cisco, AmeriNet and Cambridge Computer on
current and emerging networking technologies
- An
fast-paced session of roundtable discussions on
networking issues
- Capping the
day, a panel led by Brian Paige of Oakland University
debating the top ten myths in networking today
Keynote speaker
The day's keynote speaker is David Farmer,
senior network design engineer at the University of
Minnesota. In addition to his position at UMN, Dave has
held leadership roles in regional networking projects,
Internet2 working groups and ARIN, the American Registry
for Internet Numbers. He will speak about emerging
technologies in network virtualization.
Location, times and registration
For Networkers Only: An Autumn Summit for Network
Mavens will be held at the Eagle Crest Conference
Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan on Wednesday, November 2,
2011. The day will begin with continental breakfast at
8:30 a.m. The agenda runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.,
with a social hour from 4:30-6:00 p.m.
Registration for individuals from Merit Member
organizations is $79 per attendee. Merit Members who
register may bring a colleague at no additional charge;
those colleagues should register using the "Bring a
Colleague" option that is available during registration.
Attendees from organizations that are not Merit Members
may attend for $99. Registration includes breakfast, lunch
and refreshment breaks.
