This one-day seminar will focus on the current and emerging uses of
virtualization technologies to serve organizations. The event will be an
excellent opportunity for server and storage professionals, CIOs,
information architects, and data center managers to survey the industry,
learn from others who have implemented creative solutions, and interact
with peers about this vital set of technologies.
Speakers and agenda
-------------------
We are pleased to welcome as keynote speaker Richard L. Villars, vice
president, storage systems & executive strategies, IDC. Rick is a senior
member of IDC's storage research team, which assesses the development
and adoption of storage hardware and software solutions. He develops
IDC's viewpoints on the evolution of storage networking infrastructure
and next-generation storage technologies. He advises clients on the
impact of tiered storage, blade servers, and regulatory compliance on
organizations' storage and information management practices.
The agenda also includes:
* Aparna Agrawal, Rick Hoffman, and Chris Cullingford,
State of Michigan, on how the State has introduced server
and storage virtualization to lower costs and improve service
delivery.
* Debra Allison, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, on how the
university has planned a major virtualization strategy to
overcome the limits of its data center space and power capacity.
* Michael Chahino and Phil Howard, Elgin Community College,
Elgin, Illinois, on how they transformed a traditional warm
backup disaster recovery site to a fully replicated hot site
using virtualization and SAN technology.
* Todd Phelps and Charles Tuite, Ball State University,
Muncie, Indiana, on how they deployed a content management
system into a virtualized environment using existing hardware.
* Marianne Lease, VMware, on virtualization as a useful tool
during tough economic times.
The day will also include a breakout period featuring facilitated
roundtable discussions, providing attendees a way to bring up specific
issues and seek input from other professionals. During program breaks
throughout the day, VMware and other sponsors will be available to
discuss their current virtualization solutions.
