Free IPv6 Training Series
Cisco, a Merit
Community Supporter, will be holding a IPv6 training webinar
series. All Merit Members are invited to attend. Your
invitation to attend this event, including instructions to
register, is shown below.
There is a lot of publicity
about IPv4 address depletion and the need to move to IPv6.
This series will provide an overview of how IPv4 address
depletion will impact you and what you need to know to plan
a migration to IPv6. It will offer theory of IPv6 and how it
differs from IPv4 and provide practical guidance on
implementation and approaches for making an orderly
migration to IPv6 in the campus and data
center.
Monday, May 9 | 3?4:30 p.m. ET IPv6
Introduction
Session 1 will be a technical
overview of IPv6. Topics covered include address assignment,
neighbor discovery, routing protocol support, services
support, co-existence with IPv4, and interface configuration
examples. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding
the differences between IPv4 and IPv6. The first session is
for those with little knowledge of IPv6 who are looking for
a broad overview of IPv6 and what is needed to assemble a
plan for migration.
Monday, May 16 | 3?4:30 p.m.
ET IPv6 Implementation
Session 2 explores
IPv6 in more detail covering migration strategies, NAT and
address translation, IPv6 support for specific platforms
including routers, switches, and service modules/appliances.
A detailed review of the process for obtaining address space
is covered as well as an overview of provider independent
addressing. This session focuses on the steps necessary to
actually deploy IPv6 in the campus and data
center.
Monday, May 23 | 3?4:30 p.m. ET
Advanced IPv6 Topics
Session 3 covers
advanced topics in IPv6 including routing and multicast for
IPv6 as well as 6PE/6VPE MPLS support. This session compares
OSPF, EIGRP and ISISv6 support. Platform support for IPv6
multicast, MPLS and IPv6 routing protocols will also be
included. This session is for those who may have IPv6
already deployed and are looking for information on
multicast and virtualization support.
