Hands-On Network Security: Practical Tools and
Methods
April 26-28, 2011
Two days remain to become a video classroom for Hands-On
Network Security: Practical Tools and Methods, an
intensive workshop on the fundamentals of network security
coming up on April 26-28.
If your
organization has H.323 video capability and four or more people
who would like to attend the class, you can host a video
classroom at your site. It's a great way to save time and
the cost of travel. Your four participants can come from
any organization--this is an opportunity for local
collaboration as well.

in Traverse City
A classroom has been added in Traverse City, connected to
the Ann Arbor class via interactive videoconference. If you live in
northern portions of the state, this is a great
opportunity to reduce your travel distance.

About the
course
Instructor Charles
Antonelli developed this course in the process of training
over 120 system administrators at the University of
Michigan in network and platform security essentials. The
course has been presented to Merit Member groups with
great success three times before; Charles updates the
course material annually with the latest attacks, defenses
and tools.
Taught over
2-1/2 days, the course is a comprehensive learning
experience to provide practical solutions for addressing
major network security issues. The focus will be on
studying current attack methodologies, examining your
network for vulnerabilities, presenting recommended
solutions and best practices for mitigation, and assessing
the landscape of available tools and methods used.
The course is appropriate for network administrators,
system administrators and others who need expertise in
network security fundamentals and best practices. The
course can serve either as a basic primer for novices or
as a refresher course for experienced administrators.
