MJTS meeting, to be held on Wednesday, March 30 at
locations in East Lansing, Escanaba and Gaylord. All Merit
Member organizations are encouraged to attend for a free
day of learning.
The meeting will be held at the MSU Union in East
Lansing. You can also participate in an interactive
video connection with the meeting at Bay de Noc
Community College in Escanaba or the University
Center in Gaylord. If you live and work in the
northern parts of the state this is a great way to
participate in MJTS without traveling a long distance.

This meeting will also be webcast. On the day of the event

Here are the main presentations and speakers:
- Laura Gorman
from Wayne State University will give a case study of
WSU's two-year project to provide disaster
recovery capabilities for the campus.
- Pete
Hoffswell from Davenport University will tell stories
about building ad hoc networks in unusual
locations to support the meetings of the North
American Network Operators' Group (NANOG).
- Riva
Milliken from Merit will discuss the development of
the Merit Support Center as a coordinated
resource to provide support for network connections
and all of Merit's services.
- Speakers
from Data Strategy will discuss the "next steps"
in the virtualization journey for organizations
that already using virtualization technologies in some
way.This presentation will help organizations identify
where they are in the process and determine how to get
to the next stage.
- Merit's
Robert Duncan and an engineer from ADVA Optical
Networking will discuss fiber-optic transport gear
and how it can be used to maximize the usefulness of
limited fiber resources.
- Merit staff
will discuss backbone network developments and
recent activities related to Merit's broadband
stimulus projects.
- Larry Blunk
from Merit will discuss the recently announced depletion
of IPv4 address space, and what this means for
network addressing in the future.
MJTS meetings are
open only to Merit Member organizations. We encourage you
to invite others from your organization to attend the
meeting, in this case especially those who have interests
in disaster recovery, virtualization and fiber networking.
