Internet2 IPv6 Workshop
August 2-3, 2011

Merit Network is pleased to host the Internet2 IPv6 Workshop, developed and regularly presented by Internet2's IPv6 Working Group. This hands-on workshop will be held at Merit's offices in Ann Arbor on August 2-3, 2011.
Class size is limited to 20; please register early to ensure your place.

Registration and complete details are now available at:

Workshop goals and contents

IPv6 provides vastly expanded address space for Internet-connected networks and will gradually become the protocol version used by all networked devices. Globally, IPv4 address space has recently become depleted, and the coming years will see significant activity as network operators deploy IPv6 and related solutions to ensure compatibility between IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Competency in IPv6 is a vital skill for today's network professionals.

The Internet2 IPv6 workshop is an ideal opportunity to gain hands-on experience with IPv6. It is recommended for individuals responsible for designing and maintaining organizational networks, and will provide engineers and network managers the information they need to deploy and support IPv6 within their campuses.

Over the course of the workshop attendees will design and set up a functioning IPv6 network, which will be connected to the global IPv6 network. The network will have both external and internal routing configured. Using IPv6 transition tools, attendees will also gateway between the workshop IPv6 network and the global IPv4 Internet. The workshop will cover the IPv6 aspects of the following topics:
  • Router Configuration
  • BGP Configuration
  • Addressing
  • BIND configuration
  • Application Space
  • Transition Issues
After having attended the workshop, attendees will be able to engineer IPv6 networks within their organizations, explain IPv6 engineering concepts to peers, and help teach or facilitate future IPv6 workshops.

Location, times and registration

The workshop will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2 and Wednesday, August 3, 2011. The location is Merit's offices at 1000 Oakbrook Drive, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104.

Registration for individuals from organizations that are Members of Merit or Internet2 is $450 per attendee. Attendees from non-Member organizations is $650. Registration includes continental breakfast, beverages and refreshment breaks each day. Wireless Internet service is available in the classroom.

Registration is available online, and payment can be made by credit card, check, or purchase order. To register and to read more about the class, please visit:
