- From: Andy Rosenzweig
- Date: Thu May 15 12:33:30 2008
You may be interested in attending a disaster recovery roundtable,
offered as a pre-conference workshop of the Merit Member Conference on
June 11 from 9 a.m. until noon. Gretchen Grey, academic continuity and
disaster readiness director, University of Michigan, will lead the
roundtable. Registration is $60.
Registration and full information are available at:

This workshop is an opportunity for open an discussion among people who
are responsible for developing disaster recovery plans for their
organizations. Disaster recovery planning can be a difficult task,
requiring significant inter-departmental cooperation and collaboration,
consideration of specialized needs, and management of conflicting
goals. Meanwhile, resources can be hard to come by and organizational
urgency can flag over time. Disaster planning coordinators can benefit
greatly by sharing their experiences and insights with others who do
the same work. In this workshop, participants will work with the
instructor to select discussion topics of greatest interest, with
supplemental materials used to share knowledge and spur discussion.
Gretchen Grey has eighteen years of professional IS experience in a
wide range of sectors and industries, including thirteen years of
project management practice and five years in disaster preparedness.
Her current position at the University of Michigan is director of
academic continuity and disaster readiness in the Provost's office. She
earned the award of Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
by Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) and spent two years
on the Disaster Recovery Journal's Editorial Advisory Board's Generally
Accepted Business Continuity Practices Committee.
Gretchen will also appear as a speaker at the Merit Member Conference,
with a presentation and follow-up roundtable on mass notification
systems. Complete information about the conference is available at:
