The workshop introduces students to the concept of Multicasting on an IP network and presents detailed discussions on the design, operation, and configuration of IP Multicasting. Attendees of this workshop will learn the operation of several multicast protocols including IGMP, PIM, and SSM. Students will also learn the basics of operation and configuration of the necessary multicast protocols to achieve efficient delivery of shared audio and video over a campus infrastructure of routers and switches.

PrerequisitesPrior to attending this course, students should have a good understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and the configuration of routing protocols on a Cisco router. Students should also understand the operation of Ethernet switches and be comfortable with the configuration of access-lists on Cisco routers and switches.
