Learn the Fundamentals of Cisco ASA Firewalls
Merit Network is pleased to host Deploying Cisco ASA Firewall Solutions, a five-day, hands-on course on the skills needed to configure, maintain and operate the firewall features of the Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliances (ASAs). This course prepares you for the Cisco exam 642-617 FIREWALL which tests the knowledge and skills needed to implement and maintain Cisco ASA-based perimeter solutions.
The class will be held Monday through Friday, March 12-16, 2012, at Merit's offices in Ann Arbor. Attendees from Merit Member organizations who register by February 10 can save an additional $200 off the already reduced Member price for this class.

- Bootstrap the security appliance
- Prepare the security appliance for configuration via the Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM)
- Launch and navigate ASDM
- Perform essential security appliance configuration using ASDM and the CLI
- Configure dynamic and static address translations
- Configure access policy based on Access Control Lists (ACLs)
- Use object groups to simplify ACL complexity and maintenance
- Use the Modular Policy Framework to provide unique policies to specific data flows
- Handle advanced protocols with application inspection
- Deep packet inspection of application layer traffic
- Troubleshoot with Syslog, Packet Tracer, and packet capture

About the instructorThis class is led by instructors from Computer Data, Inc., a national provider of technical training and a Cisco Learning Partner.
Registration DetailsThe registration fee for attendees from Merit Member organizations is $2195 through Friday, February 10, 2012. After that date the Member price increases to $2395. Attendees from organizations that are not Merit Members may attend for $3195. The typical retail price of this class is $3395 per attendee. Registration includes all training materials, continental breakfast, beverages and snacks.

Payment may be made by credit card, check or purchase order. Registration may be canceled up to 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday, February 24, 2012, minus a processing fee of $35. Cancellations are not available after February 24; substitutions are allowed if necessary.
Scholarships AvailableScholarships are available for these classes through the Professional Learning scholarship program. Anyone from a Merit Member organization may apply for a scholarship, if funding to attend is not otherwise available through the organization.
