Network Research Update
Merit's network research team is currently involved in a few on-going projects: the Protected Repository for the Defense of Infrastructure Against Cyber Threats (PREDICT), network reputation research, and Merit RADb expansion.

REACH-3MC Project Update
As a new year begins, Merit's REACH-3MC Team can reflect on a busy and accomplished 2011. Having begun construction on the Round 2 portion of the project, deployed optical equipment at key network nodes and made significant progress securing necessary permits, we are ready to hit the ground running in 2012.
In December, Merit broke ground on Round 2 with a segment of underground construction from Bruce Crossing south to Watersmeet. This is a very exciting milestone for Merit and REACH-3MC because it also marks the beginning of construction in the Upper Peninsula.

2011 Desktop Virtualization Summit Recap
In December, Merit hosted its second Desktop Virtualization Summit at the Kellogg
Center in East Lansing. IT professionals from across Michigan attended the event
to learn about the latest techniques for implementing a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and to
gain insight from organizations that have implemented virtual desktops.
